Therapists:
How do you help the clients that don’t get better, no matter what you do?
Welcome to
Safe Enough: Therapist Effectiveness
Through Trauma-Informed Care
You are a therapist:
With confidence in your ability…with most of your clients.
Then there are those few that are challenging, and those take up way too much of your clinical bandwidth.
Who is always seeking to deepen your clinical practice.
Who wants to leave no stone unturned with all of your clients
But with certain clients: you feel stuck.
Frustrated! (and that doesn’t feel good).
You want to get these clients past this stuck point.
The client say they want change-but don’t seem to benefit from anything you offer.
The key to getting you AND your toughest clients un-stuck is to:
take a step back…and then dig in to trauma-informed practice.
You’d really like to help these clients move forward, AND you’d like to stop working so hard. Imagine if you could do both of these things at once!
Imagine that you could:
lower your stress about these clients
increase your confidence with tough cases
increase your sense of effectiveness with these clients
reduce your countertransference with these cases
help ALL of your clients move more easily through healing
Hi. I’m Elizabeth.
I am: A seasoned therapist of more than 30 years, a SAMHSA-certified Trauma-Informed Care Trainer, and an early childhood trauma survivor.
I am: a yogi and trained yoga teacher, a writer, a lover of walking in nature, a super-aunt, and a cat mama.
People describe me as simultaneously nurturing, honest, and funny. I wear all of those as badges of honor!
With deep empathy, I’ve treated hundreds of people navigating their own trauma, trained hundreds of people in holding and offering ‘safe enough’ Trauma-Informed space. And: integrated into that my own personal trauma recovery.
This is for you if:
You know you are a good therapist-yet certain clients (or types of clients) seem to get stuck, and you with them.
You have clients that are motivated, and with whom you have good rapport, that just don’t make progress-and you are stumped.
You have had supervision or consultation for these challenging cases, which hasn’t gotten you past the obstacles.
You are seeking new, creative ways to get out from under your countertransference
*you are open to deepening your clinical practice in ways you haven’t seen yet
This is NOT for you if:
You want to fix these challenging clients, if only they would LET you.
You don’t really want to be challenged with feedback.
You see some clients as ‘unreachable’ ‘not wanting help’, or too far gone’
you try to GET clients to ‘let go’ of their feelings, ‘process' their feelings’ or ‘move on’You have described clients are rude, resistant, not wanting to change, or similar
